TRANSPORTATION / PLANNING
Mission Trails, San Antonio, Texas
Planning, landscape architectural, and environmental graphic design services
for a multi-modal system connecting San Antonio's five Spanish Colonial
Missions and related historical sites from The Alamo to Mission Espada.
Provide simple and comprehensive
pedestrian, bicycle, car, and transit access from all points in San
Antonio to each site, including extensive directional signage; providing
visual and physical linkages to the San Antonio River; complementing
with circulation patterns at each site; and coordinating with adjacent
neighborhoods and with the community-at-large.
As part of the planning study, an Enhancement application was
submitted to TxDOT for funding under the Federal ISTEA Program. The Team's work resulted in the City of San Antonio receiving
$14.4 million by the state in April of 1994, with an additional $3.3
million in local matching funds.
The Team is currently working to refine preliminary planning
decisions and to complete the design and construction documents for
the entire project. Recipient

Texas Chapter, American Planning Association, Project Planning Award;
and the American Society of Landscape Architects, Texas Chapter, Honor
Award.
La Cantera, San Antonio, Texas
Master development plans, including land use, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, major utilities, and drainage for 618-acre site. Landscape architectural considerations included site and climatic analysis, major street planting, flood control, entry design, signage, and design guidelines.
Integration of Public Transportation and Bicycle Services, San Antonio, Texas
Feasibility study for the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization to survey, document, and identify the potential use of bicycle-public transit as a viable transportation component. This study will focus on the successful methods being used in North America to facilitate the integration of bicycling and transit in the San Antonio-Bexar County area.
Kerrville Enhancement Program, Kerrville, Texas
Transportation enhancement program to include: construction of a hiking trail along the Guadalupe River in downtown Kerrville. A new pedestrian bridge will be constructed, along with stairways and a ramp to the river bank. Sidewalk and visual enhancement will be made on several other streets in increase pedestrian mobility and access to the river.
Downtown Transportation Study, San Antonio, Texas
Urban design and planning services for a comprehensive Downtown Transportation Study to assess overall conditions/operations of vehicular, transit, pedestrian, bicycle, and goods movement.
Northwest Corridor Feasibility Study, San Antonio, Texas
Study for the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization to assess the physical characteristics of the Southern Pacific right-of-way or other suitable alternative rights-of-way that begin in northwest Bexar County and extend southeast through the study area with respect to adjacent land uses, suitability for transit options or other transportation options, and financial strategies.
South Texas Medical Center Suburban Mobility Study, San Antonio, Texas
Research study for the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization for the mobility issues in the vicinity of the South Texas Medical Center with recommendations for long-range planning and several pilot projects for early implementation.
U.S. 281/Pharr International Bridge Study, Pharr, Texas - U.S./Mexico Border
Study to develop an alternate route for U.S. 281, specifically, with respect to traffic generated by the opening of the Pharr International Bridge. Study will address traffic circulation requirements for the Pharr International Bridge with both a Short-Term Plan and a Long-Term Plan to minimize the impacts on the City of Pharr and adjacent cities.
High-Occupancy Vehicle Study-Long Range Plan, San Antonio, Texas
Study for the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization to determine the potential for High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) improvements in major transportation corridors to address the long-range mobility needs of the San Antonio-Bexar County study area. This study is to be developed in conjunction with the Long-Range Transportation Plan.
